Blog Assignment #5



Ipad

This device has a lot of good features but some that attracts buyers are the faster A6X processor that adds extra system speed and graphic powers. Also another good thing about this product is its wide range of applications on iOS store (stein, 2012). One bad thing about this new product is that the accessories from the older model don’t work with this new ipad (stein, 2012). The reviewer did compare this with a similar product and mentioned how these two products are similar. He also mentioned why people should buy one over and other and that was simply based on the buyers need/ use. He mentioned one is really portable and the other could be used as an alternative for a laptop (stein, 2012). This review about the ipad is based on both research and hands on testing because there’s a video included in this review that explains it in detail. The reviewer’s final decision was to simply look at your own use and consider this produce or its mini version like if you want portable buy the mini ipad or if you want an alternate of laptop buy an ipad. The two criteria that were important were the use of this product and its portability.

Google nexus 10

This nexus 10 tablet is among the best tablets that are out in the market. This tablet has a lot of good things such as its bright, sharp beautiful screen and its light, durable and has the fastest processor for any android tablet. Besides all these good things there are some bad things about this product such as its charging problem when playing a game and the battery life (Franklin, 2012). The reviewer did compare this product with nexus 7 and mentioned how the processor is changed from one to another and the nexus 10 is faster than the 7 (Franklin, 2012). This review is based on both hand on testing and reviews because of the video that explains the whole review. The reviewer didn’t do a good job in convincing people to buy this product or in why this is better than the other tablets. The hardware features and miracst were important in reaching a final decision.

          The link in this blog stated above revels some how a Nao Robot works. In this video, Nao robot is able to perform dance move and the special thing about this video is that, these moves are performed in group where they performed all the moves at the same time. It was very fascinating to see that robots can do the same things as humans and how technology has have taken over in the past few years. After seeing these improvements in Robots we still can totally rely on them completely, because they're not great in completing task. Like if we look at this video we can clearly see that the Robots only performed the moves that they were programmed to do. Robots didn't perform any random moves or anything special unlike humans, that can perform random moves depending on the situation. This video reveals some capabilities and it came from a trustworthy site.
          According to Bowdoin (2002), Artificial intelligence is "a machine that can think about data and act upon them as a human" (Bowdoin, 2002, p. 153). This means that if a machine can perform same tasks as humans and can do the same stuff is considered artificially intelligent. going back to our Nao Robots we can now say that even though they can perform moves like humans, they can not do it as good as humans. If we look at the video we can say that these moves were    performed slowly and these Robots need time to process the instructions given to it.
          But if we talk about numerical computation, storage, retrieval, and sorting of large quantities of information we can say that these activities are performed faster by computers than humans.
With all these things we can say that Nao Robots can not interact with humans completely and this is going to stay an obstacle in between humans and Robots in the near future.
Now we can compare the video and the written technical description of this Robot. video about this product only talks about the final product and what and how it operates/perform. But in written description it tells us the software behind this product and more specs. Therefore, the written description is more helpful in the sense it provides a detailed description of everything in regard of the robot.

The traffic system around college campus is not safe for the pedestrians.  A lot of accidents have happened in the past, and everyday people face some type of traffic problems. With this increasing number of traffic accidents, a further step is taken improve the traffic situation near the campus.  People use sidewalks while they’re on their phones and drivers run red lights frequently. As this problem is serious, $100,000 is allocated to spend to improve conditions around the campus. The problem can be solved if we change the traffic system around the campus such as putting more cameras on the signal, redesign the traffic lights, enforce speed limit and build pedestrian walkways. With the help of these solutions and changes this campus would be a safer and more pleasant place to study.
 In this blog I am writing about the traffic situation because this is the problem that bothers many students and pedestrians. The situation that I came up with was to change the traffic system and put more automatic cameras with latest technology because I have seen a lot of cars running the red light causing danger for other pedestrians. The was inspired to write about it because I have personally faced these problems many times. The research I did on this topic was on the new technology such as speed cameras and new signals. It was also based on my observation around LaGuardia campus. Revising my draft and editing the memo definitely helped me a lot where I got rid of unnecessary stuff and repetitive words. The thing that I learn about technical writing through the memo is that you have to be really specific in what your writing about and to see who you’re writing too (audience).

In this article the author mentioned different technique where he tried to make driving safer and easier by developing an intelligent co-pilot for cars. In this article the author mentions Sterling Anderson's work, who’s a PhD student in MIT’s Department of Mechanical Engineering. With the help of his partner/researcher he developed semi-autonomous safety system where the camera and laser rangefinder to identify hazards in a vehicle’s environment. the author mentions the use and advantage of the system and said "  The system allows a driver to control the vehicle, only taking the wheel when the driver is about to exit a safe zone." (Chu,2012). He made this system effective for drivers and their surroundings. The system works in the background while the driver is driving and if he makes a mistake serious enough to make collusion, the system acts to make sure you avoid it. After it was developed the system has been tested 1200 times to make sure if it's working properly. With all their research and experiments on the system they believe that they are working on something that could end up being in our cars in the near future.

This is a professional article because this article was written by a MIT officer and Massachusetts institute of technology is a well know institute. Well in my opinion i think this is a very good idea that can help a lot of drivers in the future and could make driving a lot safer. The impact of this technology in the future will be so helpful that i think almost every car will introduce this technology in their cars, through which driving will become safer. This article definitely tells us  the role of a working engineer. Through this article it tells us that engineers in their field perform different operations where they test their inventions like how they perform or if they're safe or not. In their life they do a lot of research and scientific study to invent their product that is going to work perfectly.

Tech writing first blog

Hi my name is syed haider and this is my first year in LaGuardia College and i am studying mechanical engineering. This is my first blog for my technical writing class. My education/career plan is to get a degree in engineering and a job as a mechanical engineer to be specific i want to work in automobile field as a engineer. I am really interested in mechanical engineering because i love cars and i want to go into  automobile field. Now a days everything involves technology and with new technology my interest grew more towards it,with all these new things i got close to technology and as i child i also wanted to know how these things work such as car and robots. A lot of people in Laguardia and in other colleges are interested in engineering because now technology is taking over everything. People might not have the same interest like me but there are people who are really passionate about it. I prefer writing over reading but i do read articles about technology and some sports articles because i love sports too. the kind of writing that i do involves essay writing and journal writing, mostly related to school work.
